Art by the Sea was created based the principles of the Kids Ocean Adventure Series. It is an annual event designed to use various art forms to inspire youth to spread their message about environmental conservation to the community. The attendees will be filmed while they construct art projects, i.e. posters, sand sculptures, painted surfboards, sand & sea animal art pieces & art "beach cleanup" (creating art out of found objects on the beach). Throughout the day, interactive performances by local artists will entertain the attendees with drumming and dancing. A major component will be a live mural painting by a featured artist & the attendees. Another feature will be a live sea creature Touch Tank brought by Biscayne Nature Center. The entire event will be filmed and will include interviews of the participants and footage of all activities to create an episode which will be aired on a BB&Y web show. Local schools will be commissioned to create environmental art in the classroom and will be entered into the Art By The Sea competition where the winners will be showcased at the event. Prizes will be awarded. This event will enhance the artistic talent of participating children/youth and at the same time make them aware of the importance of preserving the ocean and the environment.
